Curious what the general consensus is on ticks. We live in Loudoun County, Virginia (so the epicenter of Lyme) and we have only had our baby Nigerians for a little over a week now and I've pulled 3 ticks off one of them. Just about threw up doing it.

Our vet suggested .5ml of Permithrin mixed with ~2mls of water in a syringe and then apply it tip of tail to their neck along their spine (like flea and ticks meds for dogs) once a month. She says its perfectly safe for us to pet them etc. She also said it wouldn't really make sense to spray the ground with it since dew/rain will just render it ineffective. She kind of made it seem like its not a huge deal.

What do you all do? Do you constantly pull them off? I cannot stand using my fingers. Just not going to happen. Any little "tick removing instruments" you recommend? And do you put anything on the wound when done?
