We've had a few questions on toxic plants lately. I thought we could make kind of a tally of what seems to most dangerous to our goats. Like this...

I've had goats die from Horsetail Ferns (scouring rush) baled in hay.

I've had goats very ill from Rhododendron.

'Toxic' plants in their pasture that don't seem to bother them: Buttercups, Dock, Elderberry.

I had a couple girls get very very ill from azaleas. I have also had goats eat azaleas and have no reaction. I believe the girls that got sick, just gorged themselves on them.

We also have buttercups in the pasture and have had no issues with it yet. And I have seen them eating and nibbling on them.
