Transexual Chicken

    He/She[​IMG] He/She tries to crow and still lays an egg every so often.
    The vet says that this won't hurt he/she as long as we watch that an egg doesn't get stuck because it is malformed. Since it
    isn't causing pain we will not be treating her $.

    The Chicken Health Handbook says,
    Spontaneous sex change is a phenomenon whereby an old hen develops the characteristics of a cock, perhaps because an infected ovary has
    caused hormonal changes. The hen's comb grows larger, she molts into male plumage, and she may crow or mount other hens. If the infection
    is successfully treated, the "cock" will revert back to a hen at the next molt... This phenomenon was once considered witchcraft, the most famous
    case being a "cock" named Basel who was burned at the stake in 1474 for laying eggs.

    My husband thinks that this might explain the origin of the barbecue. :ROFL:

    O my...a "crossdressed" hen! :ROFL: Wierd how nature can be so perfect and still have "oddities".

    I do believe the term is bi-sexual! She swings both ways. XD

    No this chicken can not fertilize. She still has a hen reproduction system, lsometimes laying eggs. That would strange if she could. :shocked:
