Treating for Meningeal worm - Ivomec shot

My wether has been lame - especially rear end for several days. Trouble getting up. I started treating him about day 3 for Meningeal Deer worm after ruling out injury and doing lots of research. We live in an area that has lots of white tailed deer. He has been getting a little better every day. For the last 4 days I've given him 10 cc of Safeguard plus some electrolytes orally. I ordered the Ivomec Plus on Monday and it came today. I just gave him 2 cc injectable. You would have thought I was killing him. He rolled on the ground in pain for several seconds. He hasn't reacted at all to any other shots, but this one really threw him for a loop. Is that normal? How many more days of this?

Yes it's normal, it hurts a little. Mine scream and roll around like I shot them.
Not sure how much your goat weighs. Safeguard should be dosed at 1cc per 7 lbs. The Ivomec should be dosed at 1cc per 40 lbs. Do the Safeguard for 5 days in a row. Below is a link to an article on Meningeal Worm.

next ivomec shot..give sub Q where the neck meets the body..lift a nice tent and give it there...mine do not react as bad to it given there..if you give it IM they will toss a big fit...
