Today I found an old wound high up on my new goat's thigh, about as high as the tail. At first I thought it was dirt, caked up in the fur, but as I kept touching it I realized that it was something more, it felt a bit lumpy.

She was tested negative for CL and the other herd diseases right before I got her a little over 2 weeks ago.

While I was investigating it I washed it with lukewarm water and rubbed it a little bit. Once I could see that it looked like some sort of wound I stopped immediately and drenched it with hydrogen peroxide 3%, since I have yet to stock up on a proper goat first aid kit. I took photos of it, one with the flash where you can see a little pink where I must have rubbed off a scab and one without flash.

In general she seems healthy and happy.

What's the best thing to do in a case like this? Leave it alone? Treat it, and if so with what?

All posts I've come across has been about what to do about a fresh wound, perhaps old wound should be handled the same way?
