Hello All,
I went out to the barn this morning and a little doe was just born! She was still all wet and Bindi, the mother, didn't know what to think about this gooey blob. Not only that, but this morning was one of the coldest we've had here in Middle Georgia - 26 degrees. I ran back in the house for a towel. I brought in the little doe inside because she was shivering. I rubbed her down while she was in front of a space heater.
I brought her back to Mama, who took a couple of hours for her maternal instincts to kick in. The baby is nursing and wobbling around on LONG legs. She is all black with curly hair - kinda looks like a sheep. The red tint in the pictures is a heat lamp.

Bindi still looks a little fat, but she doesn't seem to be in labor anymore.

Here's pics:

Mom looks so proud in that first picture.
She looks like one of my cashmere.

I have several Valentines babies. Matter of fact this is the first year in four years I have not had babies on Valentines day. (unless i go home and find one)

Well, I'm not sure who the daddy is, because I got the mother about 5 months ago and she might have been pregnant when I got her. The baby has LONG legs and the mother has short legs.

Here is what she looked like when we got her, along with the buck we got at the same time. He might be the "baby-daddy".
