First and foremost you need a good fence that will keep them in and a shelter where they can get out of the elements. My goats HATE to be wet and you certainly do not want them to get out while they are just new to your place
Are these going to be breeders or pets? Adults or kids? Go thru the "stickies" on each section...they are "stickies" for a reason. Of course you want good shelter (and possibly more then one, sometimes you will get a "herd queen" that won't let others in the shelter), great fencing, and a good quality hay. I would ask the seller to give a good dewormer the week BEFORE the move (that way those nasties are not carried to your farm).
Have you ever owned livestock before? If not, I think it would be wise to reconsider jumping in head first like you are planning. Start out with 2-3, and ease your way in
Here is a great link for the beginner goat owner. www.fiascofarm.com. Lots of good info here. Then when you have specific questions we can help. Good luck!
i would buy the book "your Goats" akids guide to raising and showing goats. it is a great beginners guide for newbies. i know it's a kids book, but it really has alot of useful info for any age "kid"
Goats can do well with other animals..horses, donkeys, cows , sheep..ect...the question is how will the horse be with the goats? Some do not take kindly to someone shareing their space...be sure to do fence greeting for a while before putting them together...
