So I've been reading up on does and their heat cycles. I don't breed the girls and I really only hear or see it in the fall/winter months. Poor Nyx started being more vocal - the kind where you look at her and she yells with the tongue out - which is not her normal behavior. But from the last two years, it's her normal heat behavior. So her sister and I suffer through getting yelled at. I try to always annotate when it happens so next month I know when roughly to expect it. She started about a day and a half ago and man, she's loud! Nothing else out of the ordinary, just loud enough that you start thinking - is there something else wrong?! But she pooped, peed, ate treats and hay, laid down, moved around - so I'm giving her time to just feel like crap.
I just felt like I needed to share my misery with those that have experienced it, too!
She's been horrible! I guess I talk to them all the time, but the last day or so I've been trying to stay quiet so I don't start her up! We went in the woods and she settled down for a bit and took the leaves I found for her just right. Until I took too long and then when they needed to go back in the pasture gate. Good grief.
Oh I definitely feel your pain! All four of my girls are LOUD!!! They honestly sound like they are being murdered. They also try get squeeze past me when ever I enter or exit the pen so they can full-bore RUN to the neighbors where the boys are. And yes, that has happened before. Once they are over there, it's nearly impossible to get them back. Goats. 🙄😆
I saw her standing by the gate, so I went out to check and give them some hay and warm water. She did a little calling, but closer to her low calls. I don't want to jinx myself that it's over - her tail was wagging like crazy - but she took her animal crackers faster and ate some dead leaves quickly!
I have one girl, Cali Gal. I swear she is a dramatic opera singer when she was in heat.🤦♀️ She would plant her feet about a foot high on the fence and start screaming...lol lol Then turn and flick that tail to & fro. She was finally bred last month. I havent missed her singing! 😜😁
Oh yeah, one of my does doesn't only scream her head off, she also sounds like a buck around the boys. 😳 I swear they try to torture me as much as possible! 😆
