Was she bred?

635 Views 17 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  toth boer goats
This morning I noticed one of my does had a creamy colored discharge from her lady parts and also had sticky stuff on her tail. She is definitely not in heat today but possibly was yesterday I'm unsure as it rained all day and I only went out in the morning to feed.

The discharge could just be from being in heat. Was she in with your buck yesterday?

Is she was, count how many days it would be to her next heat cycle and if she doesn’t come back into heat she most likely was bred.

Well if he doesn’t have much interest and she is running away from him she is not in heat. But if she was in heat yesterday she would have probably been wagging her tail and wanting to be near the buck and your buck would have been mounting her and acting very interested in her..

Yea and they where in the barn all day yesterday so I didn't see much. I honestly have not seen a heat from her and she is 8 months old.

So do you keep your buck with your does? Like do you not have them separated?
I just put them all together 3 days ago.

If you're doe was never interested in the buck, then she's most likely not bred. The discharge could be from heat, but it sounds like she never in heat. The discharge could also be from the buck trying to breed her.

Maybe she is just coming into heat.

Ya.. you should know when she comes into heat.. wagging her tail a lot, interested in your buck, and the buck being interested in her, bleats a lot, etc.. just some of the signs of heat

Could be. Standing heat (when the doe will let the buck mount and breed her) is usually at the end of a heat cycle.

I'm a little nervous because I have never seen her in heat I figured by 6 months I would see something.
Some does do have silent heats where they show no signs of being in heat. They only way to tell then, is to bring her on dates with a buck and wait until she's interested in him.

I had one do the same thing, only seen one day she was flagging a little bit. So I wrote it down on the calendar in case.
I won’t know if she was bred until she shows signs or not. She is a first timer so we will see. But you can get a preg test done.
I did write the date down and if I don't see any breeding the next 30 days I'll do a pregnancy check.
Thank you
