Now I’ve had two does kid already. One went fairly smoothly and both of the twins are doing well (she went 2 days before due date)

The other kidded without my knowing and had triplets. One was very small and likely stillborn. The other two are thriving as is mom. (She went 2 days before due date as well).

That brings me to my last doe. She is now a week overdue and being the paranoid person I am... I’m freaking out! She’s a FF Myotonic doe 2 1/2 years old. She started to bag up the last week of February. No signs of giving birth recently. She started pawing and distancing herself from the others about a week ago, but nothing since. A TINY bit of mucus last night. She’s not unhappy or in serious discomfort so I didn’t want to lose my head over nothing.

I witnessed her breeding. The other does all went when I saw their first breeding too. The buck was with them for 3 months after though. Could I be wrong about the date? How worried should I be?

She was a smaller framed doe to begin with so she seems massive to me. The pictures really don’t so her justice poor thing.

A doe’s udder can begin developing 1-4 weeks before the due date and it should fill up about 1 week or so before. Most does that I’ve seen fill up a couple days before they are due, but some doe’s udders fill with milk the day of labor.
She looks like she didn’t take on her first heat cycle. If she was with the buck for three months, I think she took 21 days later on her second heat cycle. I think she may be due in 2 weeks.
I’m hoping you have more Happy healthy babies running around soon!

Gosh I don’t think I can wait another 2 weeks! She’s so much bigger than my other does that went already.

Yikes! Maybe she has triplets hiding in there. :kid3::kid3::kid3::inlove:

    Is she a first freshener?
It is so hard to wait. ;)

Yes she is. Her sister is a very wide goat naturally and was a decent size. She had twins that were around 3 1/2 - 4lbs. I think she’s already bigger.

There is a chance she didn't take on that breeding or had a false heat.

So it is possible she was bred 18 to 21 days later.
    Hard to say.
All we can do is watch them.
But yet, her udder is saying otherwise.

She can safety go 160 days.
But it is pushing it after that time frame.
    What day is she on?

Her udder is very full. It might even be fuller than the other 2 before they went. She was due March 23 (150 days) so she’s already on day 157.

That is a long time. Just to be safe, I’d cut back on her grain so the kids don’t get too big.

She doesn’t get any grain. Only a cup of alfalfa pellets 2 scoops of goat balancer and a tablespoon of BOSS. I only give then grain after they have the babies as long as they’re at a good weight.

She has a couple more days to wait.

But you have to be absolutely sure on her due date, if she is indeed way past over due.
You can get Lute from a vet to put her into labor.

I would get a vet to look at her and maybe do a ultra sound to try to determine how to proceed.

    I
I’m not positive in the date so that’s why I’m going back and forth on this. I will have the vet out hopefully tomorrow to check on her and see what’s going on. Thanks everyone!

Good luck, hope the vet can give you better insight on what to do.

Apparently I just had to complain about her because she just gave birth this morning. No problems and a very healthy buck and doe. Cuties!! 05CE5BBF-4801-45E8-A333-173BE018FE63.jpeg 5F41DADD-7C7F-4074-83AB-E434DB1A8BE8.jpeg 702F62DA-19EB-416D-9150-0C4EEA92FDC9.jpeg F61349CB-A1AC-4D62-90CB-FE03A74D1A28.jpeg
