Hello, I would like to weigh my 2 mini-manchas for copper bolusing, and they are getting a little too big to do the standing on the scale with and without them method. Plus Lily is pregnant, so I really don't want to pick her up. I believe that the weight measuring tapes for standard sized goats do not work for mini goats. Is there a formula/method to do this for minis? Many thanks, Rachel
The weigh tapes are basically an "estimate" and aren't as accurate as an out right "weigh in".....even the formula's doing the math with chest and length measurments are not accurate...they seem to work on yearling mini's but not so much on older goats. For accuracy with something as important as copper, it would be best to have a true weight.....even if you can have someone hold them and step on a scale while you read the number.
Liz, Thanks so much for the reply!!!! Is it ok, then, to pick up a pregant goat carefully (bred Dec. 17th)? Many thanks, Rachel
