I have a year and a half old wether Linus. He didn't eat this morning, or tonight which is highly unusual. However his temp is 102.3, he peed and pooped just fine about 10 min ago, and he was chewing his cud earlier. I have not seen him drink, so wondering if as a precaution I should give some electrolytes. Eyelids looked a little pale. He was coughing some earlier this week, and had some nasal discharge. Any suggestions?

How his rumen function? do you hear any movment...has he chewed since this morning? Hos temp is good,, I would keep an eye on it since he has a cough and runny nose...B complex is a good idea as well as some probios
He was standing chewing his cud right before I put them in for the night. I'm going back out there to give probiotics, electrolytes, and some b complex... Hoping for the best, as he is one of my first bottle kids....

Update, and so confused. He ate some hay this morning, and some fir branches. I observed him for about a half hour just a bit ago, and noticed his mouth is all white inside??? What could that mean? Temp is still good, and I gave him some more electrolytes this morning, will do so in about an hour. Any ideas... Oh and he did eat a little more baking soda.

If he is anemic, his mouth will be pale...is that what you mean? I would give daily B complex red cell 6 cc per 100# double day one, reg. dose for a week then once a week until color returns Vit B 12 high protien feed, alfalfa and green leaves to help him rebuild red blood cells Mix 50/50 ACV and water and drench 20 cc daily to speed recovery If he has not been wormed with a good wormer,,, Ivomec plus or Valbazen are both good choices.. Take his temp as well.coughing could be lung worms, a cold, allergies, dust from hay or feed...
It's like white mucous on his tongue. He spit out some alfalfa pellets and they were covered with a white mucous substance??? I checked below the mucous stuff and his tongue appears to be the normal color.

I did worm him with Valbalzen last night, since I was going to do it this weekend anyway.

He ate the hay, so that is encouraging...

Also, can I use your electrolyte mix on him? He seems to like it, and I don't have to drench him.

I will continue the b complex, I need to get red cell, will do that tomorrow.

Watch for a mild seeming pneumonia too. I've had 2 bouts with it this year...Mild cough, no temp, and then the temp just shoots up to about 107. Watch for shivering, keep an eye out for snotty nose, ears and eyes.
Okay, just got through with electrolytes, he drank a full quart:) Temp is still good 102.6

If he does have a sudden spike, pen or LA 200 for pneumonia?

Well, he still didn't eat his grain or alfalfa pellets this morning, he did play with it though?? He looked at me and then the hay behind me, so I gave him some in place of his grain, and he gladly accepted. I noticed also there was only about an inch of water in their 3 gal bucket this morning, the same thing with my preggo kinder girls. This is a good thing right? He drank a quart of electrolytes last night, and his buddy Peanut could have drank some water too, but I'm thinking maybe they drank too much water, could be something else wrong? Otherwise he is acting fine, grazing good, peeing, pooing good. He also was playing with his buddy Peanut for a bit when I just got home. He is chewing his cud well too.

So long as he's drinking and eating hay he can't be too bad off, I think. Sounds hopeful to me!
That's what I'm thinking too. He's up and around playing.... I think he's okay... It's just that him and Peanut were my first bottle babies and I'm so attached, but you know about that...:) Hope Peggy Sue gets to 100% for ya soon and she won't finish your thumb off....eeks

Update.... We are back to square 1 again he didn't even eat hay tonight:( If it is his ruminan, since I didn't see him chew his cud, should I give MOM to jump start it? I'm not sure what to do I was actually watching him for about a half hour, no cud chewing:( Temp is still good, he goes potty good too. I'm just stumped...
