My two Nigerian Dwarves were wethered before we got them at about 9 weeks, then their little "parts" shriveled and fell off a few weeks after we brought them home. These are my first goats and they seem healthy and active but I am still unsure about some stuff.
They really look like they still have their boy parts, I guess I am not sure how it is supposed to look when they are wethered. (They are about 6 months old now)
Also, we are letting them out to forage and they are not interested. They seem to just want to smack their heads with each other and drag their horns across anything they can find, but not eat anything- and there is a lot to eat!
Should I be concerned? They are always mounting one another too, but I read that is a dominance thing.

Do you know what method they were wethered with?

    What are you feeding them?

Mounting and head butting is normal!!

My wether does the same. He is 3 months old. It is normal.

Take a pic if you can..... not sure what you mean by they still have their boy parts. If not wethered properly, they can go into rut. They will always headbutt, etc. but going completely off feed is concerning. I would give a fecal sample to your vet and feed them completely separately, twice a day.

They were banded with these black bands. I feed them goat grower, fresh hay and minerals, also fresh water every day , of course

Hopefully both testies were in the band.

Sometimes too, one testicle can be tucked up high in the tummy area and not banded.

Otherwise, does, bucks, wethers can mount just to establish authority and pecking order.

I meant their testicles, not the other boy parts, I know those are still there! I guess that sounded dumb....

Were they castrated via burdizzo or banding?

Quite odd, you said you saw something shrivel and fall off? Are you positive?

Yes. Absolutely saw it shrivel and come off with both goats. Truthfully it didn't look like much to me, but I have never had goats before.

Could you manage closer up pics? Behind, and from underneath.

Sure looks like a small sack here.
Does it feel empty or have substance, like something in there like a testicle or hard mass?

Being banded means, you shouldn't see anything hanging there. Really odd looking.

Maybe get a vet to check him.

Yes something not right. Perhaps one retained testicle that was not slipped through the band. Have a vet check them both, they may in fact still be able to breed.

Oh wow, they should almost look like a doeling, its like the didn't band high enough up below the teats :/ I hope they at least got both testes! Can you feel anything in whats left there that feels like a testicle?

    Warning- Goat Porn Pics
Took me a minute to get the pictures, I was out of town and my stepdaughter was farm sitting. One of the pics is of what was banded and fell off a couple of months ago.
Sorry when I was posting it kept posting the same pics over and over IMG_4615.jpg IMG_4613 (1).jpg IMG_4613 (1).jpg IMG_1379 (1).jpg IMG_4615.jpg IMG_4615.jpg IMG_4613 (1).jpg IMG_1379 (1).jpg I tried to get a video of them tonight too but my battery was too low, they were making very strange noises like they have not made, like this low guttural sound.

Are these all pictures of one goat? Did you actually feel the testicles?

It sure looks like something is there. I wonder if whoever banded missed a testicle. Are they starting to pee on themselves or anything? Might want them checked out by your vet to make sure they don’t need a surgical castration.
