At what age do buckling start acting buckish? I have a 10 wk old nubian buck that I am going to use for my does next November. He still just acts like a wether. Wen should I separate him from the does to prevent early breeding? Does are nubian.

I would separate by July

its likely he wont be ready till November - but it never hurts to play it safe

Hmmm, by 8 weeks my bucks are normally very buckish. If he is good size, he would definatley be ready to breed does this november, or sooner. I have a 9 week old buckling and he's an american alpine, he's very good size, bottle fed, about 50+ pounds and only 6 inches shorter than my does and he acts like a buck already

Oh yeah, lol, I almost forgot, yes don't be fooled. Some bucks are "night riders" lol.

My bucklings are so little still. I am thinking about 30 lbs. and they are very narrow. They just seem so babyish still! Lol!

We have two pygmy/nigerian cross bucklings that are 5 weeks old and VERY bucky already! While my 8 month old Nigerian isn't very bucky. Everyonce in awhile he will act bucky, maybe he's a night rider too? :laugh:

I have one 7 week old who KNOWS he's a buck and KNOWS his job. On the other hand, I had an 8 week old who I banded, who never knew he was a buck and never tried anything.
