Okay- I have my angora goat (Genni) and I have sheared her, I think I was the fiber-( what would be the correct term for that?)

    it is dry

Now what do I do- and where can i buy supplies at?

So excited to try all this...

we have a drop spindle that my daughter won at the lamb and wool festival last year...

Hi kritterkeeper! I can't help you but think it's really neat that you're going to spin.

    Hi, Donna.

The breeder of my standard Angora doeling has an instructional video on Youtube that might be helpful. Here's a link: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX8yCVKDKVg"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX8yCVKDKVg[/ame]

My sons know how to prepare and spin raw fiber, and have promised to teach me how once I regain full or better use my hands. In the meantime, I am keeping my girls' fleeces stored in breathable pillowcases in a dry corner of our main shed.

I'd google "spinning supplies" and "[your city/state]" and go from there.

My sons made all of theirs from natural materials harvested from the desert. They crafted their drop spindles from hard wood (mesquite, I think) and drilled the holes with a pump drill they made from scratch, too. When he was about 10 y.o., my younger son (now a software engineer) crafted a loom out of old palm thongs and cording made from raw organic cotton. For carding, he used dog brushes, the ones for unmatting kinky coated dogs. And he actually spun dog and cat hair into cord which he then wove into to totes, throws, etc. on his loom.
