I have a Nubian kid and she has these flaky scab like things on her ears and neck...

Mites. Treat with Ivomec or Ivomec Plus at 1cc per 40 lbs injected SQ. Do 3 times every 10 days.

Yup. I agree..mites! In addition to Ivermec, spray the effected areas with the following concoction...

2/3 pint mineral oil
1/5 pint DMSO
8 ml ivermectin
5 cc gentamycin (this is Rx - I use LA200)

Spray every 3 days till completely healed and hair starts growing.

I agree, if you have mineral oil, dab it on that area, it will smother out the bugs.

Yes! Thank you. Couldn't remember the name or find the post to forward. I did have to use la200, but it worked great!

We cleaned her ear a bit and this is what's underneath the gunk....

Is it just these two spots, or is there more effected areas? These pics kind of look like fungus (ring worm) after the scab has been removed.

Has anyone else seen mites in a circular pattern like this? Seems to me that they usually spread out across the ears and nose.

If you think it might be fungus..Spray with athletes foot powder spray containing active ingredient myconozal at very close range. If it is live fungus, it will fizz and crackle. Completely coat the sore. Treat this way once a day for 3 days. Then coat with antibiotic ointment till healed.

I think MTG helps with fungal too. That would also help heal if it was from mites.
