Hey all! I got a new doe today. She's the twin sister of a doe I already have. I actually saw her when she was a baby because I was choosing between the two does. She didn't have this mark then. She was all gold with white like her sister still is. The lady I bought her from says it appeared as the doe got older. The closest thing her sister has is a little, kidney bean, shaped mark on the side of her back leg that is a brownish shade. So, what the heck is this called? Could some buckskin pattern have snuck in with the gold?
I don't have an answer for you but wow. That picture makes it look like she is glowing. She's very pretty.
I wonder if it's a moon spot being covered by white and white ticking. Is either sire or dam moon spotted? Do you have anymore photos of her?
Neither her sire nor her dam have any visable moonspots. I do have more photos of her. I'll put them on photobucket and post them. This is the only place that she has a mark like this. The other side of her face has nothing on it.
Here's a closer up picture of it. And here's a shot of the other side of her face that doesn't have the marking. The baby standing with her is her doeling...isn't she cute?
