Ok, so there was an add for newborn kids - toggs. I have seen their adds before, but there was a picture with green on the kid - it is on the inside of the ears and on the hooves (see pic) What is that??? And Why??

could it be... the ink for tattooing?...and the goat was scratching at it with it's hoofs?

Yep, tattoo ink for sure. And once you tattoo them they scratch their ears like crazy.

I can't use the black ink because my goats ears are black. I also like the color green.

Yep...deffinately ink. I prefer green..and I wouldn't mind trying white. I would think any darker colors than green would be hard to read...which reminds me..I have a yearling I need to check and see if she needs to be re-tattooed.

Black ink is really hard to read in any ear with pigmant in it, and even with goats that have pink ears it can be really hard or even impossible to read. White fades really quick and usually has to be re done. even in black ears. Green is by thar the easiest color to read.

I wasn't sure if white would be good to use or not. I was told by a judge that I would probably have to re-tattoo my 2 yo(I called her a yearling above..I keep forgetting!)...her ears are so dark!

Yep, that's ink! My Lamanchas get tattooed on the tail so they always have green butts! It takes forever to wear off...people always think they're sick or something because they have green butts and tails...
