White tattoo ink

Discussion in 'Goat Frenzy' started by wndngrvr, Sep 9, 2015.

  1. Has anyone used the white tattoo ink? - have some and was hoping to hear if anyone used it and was satisfied with it. I have two dark eared ones that the Linear appraiser couldn't read the green tattoo - so need to redo.

Never used it but I would think it would work on the dark ears.

I have wondered if black light tattoo ink works.

White does work IF you use the clamp style that makes pretty big holes

I lost a grand championship with my Boer buckling because of white tatt ink. Even on black ears it did not stay. All there ended up being was a couple of white dots, not enough to allow him to get his placing.

My advice is to never use it. All the goats that were done that year with white ink had to be redone because the ink did not stay. She did like 50 goats and none of them stayed. The green ink they used the year before styaed just fine. Since then they have never used it again. I use strictly green.

I have not used it, but have heard it doesn't work very well. Green is the way to go.

I've heard from a lot of breeders it doesn't last... Green is easy enough to see in dark ears with a light :)
