How often do nigerian dwarfs come into heat? The vet said they are fall breeders, but i have heard they breed all year, every 18-21 days. What's up?!!!

I raise boer goats so maybe not a bunch of help here, but...

From what I know they come into heat during fall time, but I have heard the same also.

You are correct about the 18-21 days though. That applies to all breeds of goats.

I know that in MN the daylight keeps even boer goats from cycling 3 times in 2 years. So my boers are the same as most dairy breeds; only fall time heat cycles.

Hope this helps...

I agree! From March to July though mine aren't as noticeable with heat signs, usually late July to February they are very blatant with what they want.... just like the ND and Pygmy bucks, they are willing and able to breed year round but are extremely competitive for does from mid to late July to February :)
