I have a hard time telling when my girls are in heat. Thankfully we have a buck this year.

My question is: We have been putting them with the buck for a few minutes a day to see if they are in heat. They have been running from him and showing no signs. If a doe is ready, will she be tolerant of the buck and let him mount right away? Does she need to be with him a few hours?

We can't leave them together all day, he is a bully. We work all day and can't watch them. We figured on the day they showed more tolerance we would leave them together a few hours. ???

Last year wasn't an issue, they were all together but he badgered them constantly with his horns.

Usually if a Doe is in standing heat..... she will allow the buck to mount.... but she has to be in standing heat.... it can be 2 days or so of it.... before she goes out and this is when the buck and Doe should be together... until she says no more... :thumb:
