Ok I'm back! I have mares about to foal and I have been sooo busy!! I was just wondering what wormer to use and what everyone uses? Also how often do you worm and where do you get it? Thanks everyone!

I worm mine orally with safeguard.I buy it at Orchlyn. (sp)?

I worm mine with Ivermectin horse wormer, just weigh them triple it(goats metabolize wormers faster than other livestock) and give it to them. Mine is apple flavored.

oh ok, I was confused.

I triple the goats weight and then measure out the dosage according to the tripled weight.

example: goat weighs 100lbs = 300lbs for the dosage amount

I worm accoding to eye lid color. IF they are pale to white they NEED a worming. IF they are pink to reddish I do not worm. I check each goat and worm them accordingly. I try to check everyone every couple weeks to stay on top of it especially when it stays wet out for long periods

by worming monthly you can build up the resistant worms and then your wormer becomes ineffective.

If you purchase a generic brand of Ivermectin then yes it can be cheeper then safeguard. BUT You still need safeguard to worm for tapes as ivermectin does not cover tapeworms.

I usually use Ivomec injectable for cattle given orally, at 1cc per 35 pounds. Safeguard for the tapes. I also worm only as needed.
