My goat suddenly went lame on both front. hooves. The hooves were very long and I trimmed them way back but his soles are very long and hard. I tried using a brand new, very sharp farrier rasp to shave them shorter but his soles are like stone and rasping took off nothing at all. Do you have any suggestions? He is very lame and walking on his knees. I put a splint on each front leg that extended past his hooves and he then attenpted to walk.

Did he recently start richer feed than usual? Sounds like founder. I had a goat founder once. I don’t remember how I treated it as that was years ago.
