Hi I have a question. I have two bucks and two does all currently housed together. They’re almost 3 months now. The bucks have just began to show sexual interest so I’m thinking I need to separate them. A friend of mine houses all her goats together and says it makes a friendlier herd. She says she doesn’t separate them at all and they kid twice a year. When I bought my goats from her all the males and females and babies were all together. I’ve heard this typically is not successful but for her it seemed to be. Is keeping goats together like that a no no? Or does everyone do it differently and you just find what works for your own herd?

I do keep my buck with my does except rut season. But he has an apron on to prevent breeding unless I want him to breed one and then they get an apron less date separately.
it has worked well for me as he isn’t trying to get out to get at the does. I do find it best to only keep a buck 2 or under. Currently debating going buckless as I have 3 does.
