That is very strange. I’ve never seen something like that. What is your long term plan for him? If he’s headed to freezer camp, I’d lean towards keeping him intact and using an apron if you are keeping him with does.
If you do really need to castrate, I’d clamp where it makes sense. Which I can’t tell from the pictures if that would be above or below. I also use the burdizzo.

 

Looks like he has an under developed scrotum and he’s unable to drop his testes so his mammary glands will be affected if you try to castrate him. You’ll need a vet for a surgical castration most likely. If you band or clamp in the wrong place it could be really bad. I strongly recommend getting a vet involved.

 

Thank you!! I’m not sure that is what’s happening, as everything else feels completely normal and his scrotum is a normal size for a buckling his age. I’ll try to get better pictures.

 

I totally agree with GoofyGoat and surgical castration would absolutely be the best option for castrating him. The testis will be removed through an incision made in the lower edge of his scrotal sac and the procedure wouldn't involve any aspect of where the teats are located.

Can you get a picture holding him up by his front legs but not touching his scrotum so we can see how everything hangs naturally…it might help.

No matter which, it’s not a trait you’d want to pass on, so castration would still need to be done.
