I bought my first registered goats tgis year. Bought 2 in may one in april.. in april i got a stamped duplicate back right away for her papers... the 2 i sent in may.. nothing. Ive created 6 tickets never gotten a response. I wanted to breed this fall for spring babies but now i wonder will i even have my papers done by then?.. when i mailed my papers off in may i had no idea theyre system was so behind. But now it says they sent out duplicates for ALL papers but i only received them for one of mine. Am i ever going to get papers back? How long has this taken for other folks this year?

They have been really bad, but I think they are finally starting to catch up. It took me 6 months to get back the papers on two kids that I mailed in paper registrations for, and both had errors 🙄 But the kid I registered online, I had correct papers within a week or two.

Ask the seller if they will transfer the goats to you online. That speeds things up and then they will at least be in your name even if it still takes them a while to get papers back to you.

The papers i had to send snail mail had errors, but i wasnt going to send back and chance them getting lost. the online is much better! i try to get the person im buying the kid from to reg/transfer online and i just pay the fee for it plus a few extra bucks.

i sold a few bottle babies last year, the new owner finally got around to registering the one back in jan. they even called multiple times but it was lost. so i ended up reg and transferring online a month or so ago and at least they have the copy in the email of it now.

I talked with them several times this spring. If they answer then they are very helpful. They told me that rush didn't really matter and not to bother this year (but that was in April). I did get my papers by late May/early June. I sent it via email. They messed up my account so much that I may have been flagged as a priority.

so when the buckling needs to be dna'd to be registered how long do you think that will take? i couldnt remember what year but thinking next year? and do you know if the dna just needs to be on file or the parents need to be dna'd also>?

It is just a buckling or any buck that you're going to use for braiding that is going to need to have DNA on file at this point. If you apply for the DNA online it usually doesn't take very long to get the email with the papers for you to print off. If you want them to mail it to you that is something I wouldn't want to mess with this year. I have done several and I've done g6s testing. It's not bad once they got it ironed out in about May. They made a special link for it this year because like everything else in the new system it wasn't working right. Except for like several people have said registering online starting in about April seems to have worked out okay. If you have trouble finding it you could always email Penny she's always helpful. The support tickets are a disaster I think they're just so far behind and overwhelmed. Has a plus member it's been kind of a bummer this year that they're so far behind with everything else because they're also not getting to things because I don't have any programming for it for things like one day milk test. And I have no idea if they'll figure out my d h i r or when.

I think I heard that the turnaround time on DNA testing is 5-6 weeks. I'm an ADGA Plus member so i have my prepaid DNA tests I need to use soon. Ive been waiting all year for things to clear up before I send them in, but if I wait much longer I'm going to lose them!
The mandatory DNA is for bucks born after 2023, so you don't need your bucks DNA'd yet unless you're unsure of the sire.
