I don't think it's possible to keep a goat from dropping berries all over....they seem to do it whenever they move!

I did have my Bootsie house trained as a baby, she'd spend her days in the house with me and I taught her to go to the back door when she needed to pee...the pellets are harder to control.

The berries themselves are easy enough to sweep off a deck or porch....and they make a great fertilizer for house plants or any plant as they aren't a "hot" manure and won't burn the plant.

It would likely be easier to keep the goats away from certain areas.....I currently have a 5 mile Zareba fencer from Tractor Supply and have a little more than a 1/4 mile of wire as a pasture for mine....with the fiberglass posts and a weedeater I managed to fence in a good sized area to keep mine where I want them, and it's easily moved too. This fencer is around $40 and it's best used with a smooth wire, I got the supplies needed to do this over a period of time..the posts run about $25 for a bundle of 20

 

We paper trained our bottle baby last year. I actually think our dogs did it, but I'll take credit

never heard of any goat being trained with poo pellets. They just go where they please!

 

I don't know of anyway to potty train a goat...however, I have seen something called a "berry bag" that is a canvas pouch attached to a harness...the pouch hangs down under the tail and catches the berries.

I can tell b4 the tinkel they look as if the think about it a lil...but the don't look to put thought into dropping the berrys.oh well good thought lol

 

I wish there was a way to train them not to pee somewhere. I don't mind the berries, but one of my girls insists on peeing on the rubber pads I put in front of their house inside the barn. The other will go to the grass, but this one is lazy and wants to pee right next to their house as soon as she steps out of it. It doesn't drain well there and the ground isn't flat so it puddles and stinks.

 

peeing is a voluntary action so they can sometimes be trained. Pooping is involuntary so not able to be trained.

 

You could put some diapers on them. I would love to train my goats to go in one spot. I think I would have all 15 in the house though!!!! :thumb:

 

I heard someone say a while back: "A goats brain and rear end are totally detached. One never knows what the other end is doing.". I agree.

 

I've found that when I sweep the loose hay into a pile my girls seem to pee on it. It doesn't seem to matter where I put the pile either. But, they poop all over. Nothing seems to change that unless they are locked out of the barn.

 

I might try the hay idea. With the type of feeder I have, I don't get much hay scattered around, so they're not used to peeing on hay, but it's worth a try. I don't mind if they pee anywhere else in the barn, just not that spot because it's in a hard to clean area. The berries are easy to sweep out, but I can't get a hose in that part of the barn to spray out pee, so I have to clean the pee by hand. Yuk! It's only one goat who is too lazy to walk 8 feet to the dirt or grass when she wants to pee and makes all this mess.
