I've only found that it is mildly toxic. Keep an eye on them. Can always give activated charcoal.

 

We have never had issue with it here...wind would knock a big bundle down and my goats would fight for it. After 20 years...its not been an issue. Like stated above...be aware of changes after they have eaten it..i always watch mine close.
