How long does it take for the registration papers to come in for a registered goats? One person said that the ADGA is slow, and it's been almost 6 months, and she still hasn't gotten her papers. Is this normal? She said that she would sell the goat, but the papers wouldn't be ready, but would send them in the mail when they arrive. Is this a scam? Or is the ADGA actually slow this year?

Oh wow, that doesn't sound right, but I am no help since we don't deal with ADGA (we use ABGA for our Boer goats). ABGA has been slow in the past but not that slow. If you don't get answers here, I would definitely call ADGA and ask them. If you have the name of the goat or what it's pedigree is supposed to be, then see if they can give you any information, not sure if they can do that or not, but I would be very leary. Hopefully someone else can chime in and give some insight. Darn scammers out there... it's so frustrating.

I am just getting involved with the ADGA but from what I’ve heard, yea they are every slow and messed up this year. The breeder I got my buck from was telling us that the reason she only gives applications for young goats now is because she had some people drive 4 hours to buy a goat from her and when she told them she would forward the papers as soon as she received them, the people said it was a scam and left without getting the goat. I know that breeder wouldn’t scam people but you never know with others. I can see that being a logical reason. I was thinking of selling the buck after breeding but I don’t have his papers back yet and it’s been almost 3 months.

ADGA is very slow. I do think they’re working to right the ship now, but it’s going to take a while to clean up the mess they made. I know people who have been waiting almost a year on registration. I have two that were done online that are stuck in limbo, have been for months. Yet the ones I sent in by mail, I got back right away (while others have had the opposite experience). So many people are having to sell with papers or stars and such pending. I guess it would depended on the overall reputation of the breeder and how well you know them. It can get dicey without papers in hand. If it was just the application for registration she sent in months ago, I’d ask if she’d be willing to redo it and mail it again and put a rush on it (I’d offer to pay the rush fee). That’s how I’ve had the best luck lately.

If it’s a NEW registration AND it’s done online , thank goodness now it only takes a couple of weeks. Registration that was messed up is still a problem. As a breeder, I register all babies in my name, and wait to sell until I get the papers back - then sign them over to the new owner at pickup. I purchased some last year- the breeder did it online while I was standing there.. with the transfer and got papers in 2 weeks.

I mailed in a transfer and a new registration in September along with the fees. I got the transfer back soon enough, but haven't gotten anything back on the new registration. I've emailed twice, and got a request for my full name and member ID number after the first one, which I rendered. That was September 22. Still no word, nothing pending on my account, but the check for the registration fee was deposited two months ago.

I think once I do get that registration, I'm done with ADGA and will go with NDGA from now on.

If you call ADGA, be prepared to be on the phone to wait for a WHILE. I called and the first time was on hold for three hours, the next was four, the last was six hours 🥴. To say their slow right now, is an understatement... Lol

For some reason I have 2 different accounts once I log into adga, but the Agda ID they sent herd name application etc is different than both of those? Does anyone know what’s up with that?!?

They are way behind. So far they have lost the reg for my buck, it's taken almost 2 years to get his papers. I just received a notice that they took the money from my account for him. I traded for a doeling 2 years, got her papers and then traded her back to the breeder (for the above buck!) after her damn died. The reg was sent in, they lost it. I transferred her online. It took almost a year for that to go through, but then they wanted the hard copy. I applied for a duplicate because they lost it, still nothing.

I bought another buckling form the breeder. She had already sent in the application. They sent her the reg several months later....with the wrong breeder. It took several more months to get that taken care of.

Another buckling I bought was registered online by the breeder. It took 9 months to get his papers back.

For each of these issues (and more, like double charging) it took hours on hold when I called. Tickets took almost as long.

I am seriously considering changing totally over to AGS. They are so easy to work with and quick to return any and all work.
