So, I’m trying to get the little one registered. Frustrating experience so far. AQHA used to allow registration if a single parent was registered, but now require both. So she’s only registered able thru APHA. Which means I had to pay a membership fee as well… and now I have to wait a day or two to be able to register her I guess. Since it’s not giving me the option to move forward yet…
I will have to submit pictures of her from all sides, and pics of her Dam’s AQHA cert so they can access her genetic info. Then I’ll need to pay for dna testing for her- it looks like just a tail hair sample and not blood. But I need to make sure to get all of this done in the next month or the price goes up another $20.
And I’ve been perusing apha website, trying to find the name search tool- it says they have one that’s open to the public. But for some reason I am not finding it! I want to look up a couple of name ideas and see if they’re available to use or not 🤷🏼‍♀️
Little one is the source of a headache or two right now- good thing she’s so cute tho!

Seems like it doesn't matter what animal, registries are a pain.
100% agree 😂

thanks for listening to me whine everyone!
Apha isn’t working for me today; but the charge is still pending on my card. So I guess I’ll have to wait for the payment to go thru all the way before I move forward 🤷🏼‍♀️

This morning I haltered Miss Legs and used her to bring all the girls into the corral. It almost didn’t work… I think they were heading to water and they weren’t following us for a bit! Shadow and Java finally realized what was up and came along. Scarlet did as well, just not quite as soon. You can see she’s further back- but they all made it thru the gate for me so it worked out!

i ended up haktering Java and Scarlet and turning them into another outside field. Then opened an inside meadow for Shadow and her little one to be on better feed so she doesn’t have trouble staying in condition and keeping in milk. Suzi will also stay in on better feed since she has a harder time getting around.
Anyway, I finally measured the little one and it looks like she’s right on track to hit 15hh 😁

Then we tried a little spray down. She was not super happy with it. But we ended on a good note and I think she’ll come around ok 😅
No cute pics of her slurping from the water fountain tho! Maybe that’ll come later! 😂

We’ll Miss Legs is just growing beautifully! Such a pretty girl. I don’t think most foals, or horses in general, want to drink straight from the hose nozzle. I just have a weird one. 😆 Aziza doesn’t like to be sprayed down with the hose very much, just drinking from it. Like I said, weird. Our girls are set to mature out to the same height. That is funny. Your girl sure is flashy. I can’t get over how pretty she is.

Scarlett blends in to the background well. I almost couldn’t see her back there.

Thanks guys!
She is a pretty girl, and so friendly. It will be hard to say goodbye. But I cannot let goat math happen with my horses 😅
If I am trying to breed for sexy black boots, and good hard hoofs to go with them, I’ll need to find her a good home. Plus I want to stick with AQHA registration.
@Moers kiko boars the only pic I have of her sire is his breeding flyer:

this morning I worked with loading her in the trailer again. I haven’t done that since I hauled Shadow for her ultrasound. And that last time I had a bit of an ordeal trying to coax/pull/push her in 😅
This morning she hopped right in like no big deal. We went in and out 3x, super easy every time! It’s kind of hard to tell from my screen shot, but her lead was slack the whole time too.

I did feed them a little extra beet mash once in the trailer- a little reward incentive 😉

then, I decided I’d better get her vaccinated. She’s not quite 4 months old, but I know a cpl of people who have lost horses this last week due to West Nile virus. So I wanted to go ahead and get her vaccinated even tho we are a ways away and across desert.
It just so happened that her mom pooped on her left shoulder, right as I was opening the gate to go in with them 😅
So I went and got a bucket of water… and poured it on her to rinse away the poop globs. She wasn’t thrilled with it. I poured a cpl of times and then called it rinsed. Went to her right side and let on her neck, then inserted the needle with hardly a flinch. She was super good and stood still while I attached the syringe and pushed the plunger. I actually think that her having the water pouring on her to be worried about made the vaccination that much easier! She decided it wasn’t a big deal at all in comparison lol
I decided not to bother trying to spray her down today after that. There’s plenty of time to work on that later on 😊

Great job on the trailer training and sneaking in your vaccine in between buckets of water!
Thanks! I admit the bucket of water was completely unplanned and I had no idea it would actually benefit the giving of the shot. But I might keep that in mind for future baby vaccines 😅
