My sisters got a batch of new chickens today. They got three americaunas, three brahmas (they threw in an extra, three leghorns, two barred rocks, two buff orpington roosters, three naked necks, and the hatchery also threw in a mystery chick.

Here is the mystery chick. Anyone have any ideas of what she/he could be? It's orange like a Rhode Island chick, if you can't tell by the lighting.

@MellonFriend would the hatchery be able to share what the mystery chick is? Or was it a mystery to them as well? 😅
Hopefully not a little roo since your sisters already included a couple on their order!
When they put in the order, they were given the option for a mystery chick. We do think he his a rooster, and that was a risk my sisters knew they were taking when selecting for a mystery addition. I hadn't thought about asking the hatchery. 🤔 I guess there wouldn't be any harm in trying. However, we are almost certain it is a Bielefelder rooster chick from Murray Mcmurray description of what the chicks look like. They aren't unhappy that he's a rooster. 🙂

I got 3 Brahma chicks a few days ago, they’re about 12 days old now.. and one keeps pasting up. I clean it but within a few hours it’s back again. I thought maybe they were too hot so I raised up their lamp some. I also added some oatmeal and cornmeal to their chick starter. I’ve been cleaning the bum but he doesn’t look great now, any ideas on what might be causing it?

One of mine had that, and it didn’t make it. My friend is raising them for me, so I didn’t personally see it.
After researching now, I think it may possibly have been a vent prolapse.
The treatment for that would be clean with warm water, dry, spray with Vetericyn and apply raw hoeny or triple antibiotic cream twice a day.
I hope she makes it!
If the others start pecking at her, you need to separate her.
