I really don't know why they say that tapes aren't a problem. I could only think that maybe it's in those regions where they aren't very prevalent. So, like with any parasite or management in general, the region plays into it as well I believe. Some people will just never see them. We usually get hit with them a little bit after our rainy/mud season.

I did find this article, it talks about one that only affects kids while on milk...I never knew that. So maybe that's why yours grow out of them fine?? It seems like yours only affected them a short time?

Hmmm my babies go out to browse with moms. I might try to keep them all in a kid pen and see if things change...🤔 I have 2.5 weeks until we have babies here. I might experiment with this and see if it change things.
That's interesting. Maybe we have a different species? My kids and moms are together all day. My kids typically stop showing tape symptoms at a year or less. I really don't see segments after that, but haven't run fecals. I'm going to worm a bit more aggressively though. I'll try just natural for a little while and see if there's improvement.

Quite possibly! But it does seem at least to that article that there is an effect on kids. I just found it interesting how it correlated to milk fed kids, just might explain how you see them "outgrowing" the tape. It's been a little while since I've looked at all the articles and such. I did a long time ago when I couldn't figure out what was going on with a kid, why he wouldn't get better after worming and cocci treatments and had clear fecals. He had a potbelly and while he acted ok, he just was not....thriving? like the other kids. Then I found the tapeworm info and treated and he started doing amazingly better. Then I noticed it in my other animals here or there and I treated them all. I was cleaning up poop filled with tapes for a week 🤢🤢🤢

Don't feel like your challenging anybody. It is always useful to hear multiple sides and ideas. That's what I like about Goat Spot. Everybody has a different philosophy and way of doing things when it comes to their animals (or the ones they are eagerly waiting for 😉). It's the reader's job to decide which advice fits with their herd.
This article is so interesting! Its always neat to look at something in a different way.
Thank you for that. I’m still new here and don’t want to come off as being contrary or offensive and it’s hard to gauge how your written word might come across. I appreciate the grace!

@Jubillee how do you know its tapeworms? I thought thats what I had going on with my kids, but now I'm questioning if it's intestinal lining. Apparently they look pretty much the same?? I'm so confused now! Do you have any pictures?

If there are eggs, they look like white pieces of rice in the poop. Sometimes segments come out and they are really thick like ribbons.

These aren't my pics, I googled, but gives you a visual.
