I just so happened to notice this boil/bump on my does face today. This is the only one she has and she is drinking and eating normally.

I’ve read about CL, sore mouth, and hay poke. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be? I sent a message to my vet as well to see what they think.

Any suggestions on treatment? Should I wait it out and see what happens? Is there something I can get from tractor supply? Ive not had this experience yet with my goats so any helpful insight is appreciated!!

Since it’s lost its hair it should rupture soon. To be cautious and to protect your herd, I’d isolate her until you know what you’re dealing with.
Make sure it’s in an area the other goats don’t go and you can keep it biosecure. Make sure you collect any pus for testing in a ziploc. Wear gloves to be on the safe side.

This is what it looks like tonight. I know I’m not wearing gloves but I washed my hands immediately after handling. It hasn’t burst yet but it looks like it will soon.

what should I use to treat it? If it doesn’t burst by tomorrow should I just let it do its thing? She is still eating and drinking normally.

I haven’t heard anything back from my vet yet, I’m going to give them a call in the morning. Hopefully I can get them out so they can run tests for my 4 goats.

It burst today while I was at work. This is after I cleaned it out. The pus I was able to get out was very little. My vet did not seem concerned due to location that it could be CL. I did collect a very small sample so I’ll see if they think it’s enough to run some tests. I flushed with iodine and saline.

I would flush a few times just to clear out any bacteria. I dont think that is CL...most likely a sticker as mentioned. But always being careful with bio-security never hurts. Better to be safe then regret later.

Best wishes
