I rescued this 3.5 week old Nubian. His name is Nicholas. He was a triplet, orphaned. His face is deformed as you can see. He’s missing an eye. Face is crooked and tongue hangs out. Is this from being smushed in utero or something else? Has anyone seen this before?

also today he developed this little red spot on his face. Any ideas what it is?

also of note we went to the vet first day I got him. We didn’t know if he got colostrum so my other goat actually came and donated plasma to Nicholas. He gets artificial tears twice daily and tobramycin as needed. He was dewormed at the vet. He is active and eats well (from bowl. Can’t take bottle). I’m just curious about his deformity and praying nothing internal is wrong and also wondering about thatspot thay developed on his face

Glad you are taking such good care of him. I have an orphaned quad that is somewhat deformed I assume from being crushed in utero. She has one leg that is bent, a crooked ear, and stole my heart. She is now mostly grown and runs with a herd of young virgin does of which she thinks she is the queen. I hope your little boy grows to live a full happy life. I'd say some of the issues he has could be a result of being smashed in utero, but missing an eye is probably a genetic defect. Good idea to check for cleft palate. Internally, it would be hard to tell if he has issues, but if he is pooping and peeing normally and gaining weight, I'd say he's probably fine.

He may have whats called wry face. I cant see the twist real well in the picture but discuss it with your vet. Wry face can progress as he ages. Some stay mild enough to live a full life but some get so badly twisted that quality of life diminishes. He's a cutie either way. Glad he's been given a chance.

Best wishes
